Acoustic fabric to stretch and anchor

Vibrasto 03 is an acoustic covering which may be stretched and anchored into position over a wide variety of surfaces, such as walls or ceilings. It is made from an outer layer of Aeria* laminated onto a 3 mm thick layer of felt wadding and offers a simple and highly effective acoustic solution which may be tailored to surfaces of all shapes and sizes. It may be implemented in such a way as to cover very large surfaces with the utmost economy and perfect precision of finishing. The interior designer enjoys full scope in creating the desired effect for each individual project, leaving the acoustician free to calculate the appropriate depth of sound absorbing backing required behind the Vibrasto 03.

Specifications for Vibrasto 03

For walls and ceilings, we recommend our flame retardant, non-dripping Vibrasto 03 (width 1 500 mm), comprising an outer layer of sound transparent Aeria laminated onto felt wadding. Vibrasto 03 is stretched and anchored into position over RI panels. Its ɑw sound absorption coefficient over concrete
is 0.50 (MH). Total thickness is 30 mm.

This commonly used system provides extra sound absorption for low frequencies.

Fitting Methods

The product is stretched and anchored into place over (specify):
◻ 25 mm RI panels (impregnated glass wool) which are stuck into position in groups or screwed to the substrate. Total thickness is 30 mm.

◻ [specify thickness and nature of absorbing material chosen) fixed against the substrate. Total thickness will be …… mm (i.e. thickness of absorbing material chosen + 5 mm for the cladding).

Joins between adjacent lengths of Vibrasto 03 are pencil line joins. The edges of the fabric are inserted into U-section battens running the length of the seam. When thicker sound absorbent backings are used, the battens are raised from the substrate on blocks. Centre-to-centre distance: 1 500 mm (except for the “Black and White II” series, for which centre-to-centre distance is 1 400 mm).

The edges of the Vibrasto 03 are inserted into L-shaped battens fitted around the perimeter of the covered surface, doors and windows. When a thicker sound absorbent backing is used, the battens are raised from the substrate on blocks.

Matching Fabric Option for Outer Rims and Visible Edges
When total width is 30 mm, the L-shaped battens used for visible edges are sheathed. For greater thicknesses, the L-shaped battens raised on blocks are clad with a strip of Vibrasto 03, fixed into position with angle beading. To ensure that the fitted result is perfectly smooth and level, the battens extend slightly beyond the blocks along the line of the angle beading.

Electrical fittings
Plug sockets and switches should stand proud from the surface by …… mm (distance equivalent to the depth of the acoustic backing).

Layout plan
Different batches of fabric in the same colour may show very slight variations; it is therefore imperative to respect the layout plan designed for each surface.
